OO Time Trial
The CXC Elite Team just finished up the second training camp of the 2008/2009 year in Hayward, Wisconsin. The focus of the past two weeks was on technique, flexibility and Intensity.
The first week we were joined by a large group of Junior Athletes who were invited to the yearly CXC Regional Elite Development Camp as well as our own CXC Junior Development Team. The highlight of this camp is having two US Ski Team Coaches, Pete Vordenborg and Matt Whitcomb, attend the camp so we all can gain valuable insight on technique and training theory from them. The second week was an intensity block that ended with a second attempt at the OO Time Trial, the first attempt this year was only a week prior.
I have been skiing the OO Time Trial now for three years in a row. Posting a faster time every year since the first camp I attended with CXC. On Saturday I posted another PR by about 20 seconds! We did have a pretty substantial tailwind but I am sure my fitness and technique have also improved. The best part about the Time Trial was that Maria Stuber posted an even faster time, destroying my new record and securing her own personal best under the 15 minute mark! Truly impressive and very encouraging for her season ahead!
Everyone on the CXC Team skied better in the second 00 attempt and I must say that the girls team is extremely fit this year! I am looking forward to training and racing with these ladies because they are skiing really well and I think we will all raise each other’s level this season and help each other reach our goals.
